MacDougall, MacLean Named Head Coaches of 13U, 15U Teams

Baseball PEI is pleased to announce that it has selected the head coaches of their Provincial 13U/Peewee and 15U/Bantam teams for 2017. Dave “Hippie” MacDougall of Crapaud has been named the head coach for the Provincial 13U/Peewee team, while Kevin MacLean of Charlottetown has been named head coach of the Provincial 15U/Bantam team.

“Hippie” MacDougall has vast experience as both a player and coach at National Championships, attending Bantam, Midget, Junior and Senior Men’s National Championships as a player in the 1970s and 1980s, and coaching at Peewee, Bantam, Youth and Junior Nationals in a 1990s and 2000s.

Kevin MacLean played fast pitch at a National level in the 1980s. After coaching baseball in the early 1990s, he has come back and become one of the most successful coaches in Island Mosquito and Peewee baseball over the last four years and was an assistant coach of the 2015 Provincial 13U/Peewee team.

Baseball PEI is excited to have both of these gentlemen coach these Provincial teams. The Provincial 13U/Peewee team will play at the Baseball Canada National 13U Championships in Repentigny, QC, from 24 – 28 August 2017, while the Provincial 15U/Bantam team will play at the Baseball Canada National 15U Championships in Summerside, PE, from 24 – 28 August 2017.

Baseball PEI has yet to name a head coach for the Provincial 18/Midget All-Star team. The will play at the Baseball PEI National 18U Championships in London, ON, from 17 – 21 August 2017.

Tryouts for these teams will begin in approximately April 2017. Dates will be posted on the Baseball PEI website.
