Bantam AAA Provincials - SUMMERSIDE WINS

Summerside -
The Summerside Chevys captured the Bantam "AAA" Provincial Championship by defeating the Morell Royals 7-4 at Queen Elizabeth Park Sunday afternoon. Tyson Phillips pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief of starter Clark Gallant. Andrew Hughes took the loss for Morell in relief of Will Jadis.
Cleve McNeill 3-4 with 2 rbis, Jarret MacRae 2-4 2 rbis, and Matt Rice 2-4 led Summerside offensively. Nick Ryan, Jed Winters and Chris Stevenson all batted 1-3 for Morell. Summerside jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning only to see Morell to come back to tie with 2 runs in each the second and third innings. The Chevys were able to re-gain the lead for good in the 6th inning with rbi singles from Clark Gallant and Kris Rice. The Chevys will now turn their focus to hosting the Bantam "AAA" Atlantics September 12-14 at Queen Elizabeth Park. Other teams participating in the Atlantics include; the Bedeque Stingers (PEI rep), Cole Harbour Cardinals (NS), Fredericton Royals (NB), and a team from Newfoundland. Other tournament scores include: Summerside 11 Charlottetown 1, Morell 12 Bedeque 3, Summerside 10 Cornwall 0, Morell 10 Charlottetown 0, Bedeque 15 Cornwall 5, Bedeque 7 Summerside 6, Morell 10 Cornwall 0, Bedeque 7 Charlottetown 4, Summerside 5 Morell 4, Cornwall 11 Charlottetown 4.
The Bantam "AAA" Boys provincial championships will be held in Summerside this weekend. The provincial champion will join
Summerside at the Atlantics which will be held in Summerside Sept. 12-14.
