Walter has recently finished his long term on the Baseball PEI Executive serving in many positions, most recently Vice President High Performance for the past 4 years.
He was instrumental in developing the current High Performance Program for PEI which has seen resurgence in the number of players within our Provincial Team Programs.
As a result of his work, our PEI Midget team recently finished 5th at the 2008 National Championships.
Walter has also contributed on the field over the past years including coaching at a large number of National Championships with PEI Youth Selects, PEI Midgets, and Canada Games teams.

The coaches saw great improvement throughout the year from the players and based that on their dedication starting in the winter gym workouts. The highlight in the year was the 5th place finish at the National Midget Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

2008 MLB - Baseball Canada Volunteer of the Year Finalist
Roger Richard
Roger of Cornwall is a familiar figure in Island sport circles, especially on the officiating side of sports such as Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball.
He has also quietly made a significant contribution behind the scenes as an administrator in baseball over the past years.
Roger has been involved in the PEI Umpires Association and most recently on the Executive of Baseball PEI as Vice President Competitions.
He is the individual who directs the leagues and competitions which have seen a major increase over the past 3 seasons.
Roger
was instrumental in developing the Pitch Count Policy for PEI this season and the main force behind a major overhaul of the Baseball PEI web site last season which developed an individual web site for each team in PEI.
Roger heads all spring meetings of the 9 PEI leagues and organizes all pre-Championship meetings.
This past season he was responsible for the following Championships; 2
National Elimination Tournaments; 2 Atlantic Championships (Bantam AAA & Mosquito AA); 1 Atlantic Elimination Tournament (Mosquito AAA); and 12 Provincial Championships.
Probably the most sufficient difference he has made to the game on PEI is bringing the fun back into the lower levels of baseball.
He is at the field every day of the summer, usually officiating as he is one of the most requested officials in PEI.
And every day of the summer, in the 5th inning stretch, you will hear him lead the crowd at the ball field in singing, Take Me Out to the Ball Game.
For these reasons and many more, Roger Richard is a 2008 MLB - Baseball Canada Volunteer of the Year Finalist.
