Letter from Resigning President Randy Byrne to Parents and Fans of Northside Minor Baseball Association
Hello everybody involved with the NMBA,
After six years of being on the Executive Board of Northside Minor Baseball Association - five as President - I will be resigning, effective 9 September 2014. On Monday, 15 September 2014, I will become the next Executive Director of Baseball PEI. Due to this, I can no longer hold the position of Association President.
I am happy how the NMBA has grown over the past few years, and how numbers, especially in the Blast-ball, Rally Cap and Mosquito levels, have grown. We also now have a solid constitution, and a small-but-highly-functioning Executive Board. There seems to be more of a commitment to baseball in our area than there was in years previous, and I am very pleased about that.
With all of this being said, it is incredibly important that new people volunteer to join the Board and help out the NMBA. It is very fulfilling, and incredibly important. With my departure, and potentially the departure of others, we need at least four, if not five, new Board members. I can assure you it will not be very time-consuming at all, especially if all Board positions are filled.
In order for the NMBA to continue, we need new people and ideas, especially from parents of younger players. I regret that I must leave halfway through my term as President, but this opportunity to work at Baseball PEI is too good an offer to refuse. I will provide as much help and guidance as possible to the NMBA Board, and I am sure that much good work will come from new people being on the Board, and the excellent Board members staying on (they are the best).
The Northside Minor Baseball Association will be meeting tomorrow, Tuesday 9 September 2014 (Mount Stewart Community Centre/Fire Hall, 7:30 pm). Anybody who is interested in helping out with the NMBA Board is asked to attend. If you cannot attend but are interested in helping out, contact Maxine at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please consider helping out. We all want our children to have the best experience possible playing baseball. It is up to you to help make that happen.
(Soon to be Past) President of Northside Minor Baseball Association
