The Stratford Athletics will be representing Baseball PEI at the 2019 Baseball Atlantic 15U “AA” Championships in Newfoundland and Labrador this September after winning the 2019 Baseball PEI 15U “AA” Eliminations this past weekend.

Hosting the Eliminations at Kinlock Field, Stratford went undefeated in the four-team event. After winning all three round-robin games, they faced off against a 2-1 Charlottetown/Sherwood Royals team at 10 am on Sunday, 28 July (with Charlottetown/Sherwood’s only loss coming at the hands of Stratford on Friday afternoon, by a score of 3-2). Carter Smith and Ryan Cheverie pitched Stratford to an 8-5 win in the final to cap off the perfect weekend for Stratford.

The bats were certainly alive all weekend for Stratford, who scored 36 runs in four games. As well, the A’s benefitted from some gutsy pitching, especially Josh Burgess’ maximum 95 pitch effort against the Cardigan Clippers, who came into the event with the best record in the 15U “AA” league at 6-1. Charlottetown/Sherwood, despite only having a record 3-3-1 in the regular season, played extremely well to finish second with a record of 2-2. Cardigan finished third with a record of 1-2 while the Summerside Chevys went 0-3.

Stratford will travel to Conception Bay North, NL to representing Baseball PEI at the Baseball Atlantic 15U “AA” Championships. That event will take place from 13 – 15 September 2019.
