The PEI Youth Selects are on their way to Regina, SK for the 2019 BIGS Seeds Baseball Canada Cup, where they are looking to punch above their weight at Baseball Canada’s premiere event.
Lead by head coach Kevin MacLean and assistants Dale MacDougall and Alex Abbott, the Selects had a very good summer of play and development in the lead up to the Canada Cup. In the tough Kings County Baseball League, they finished with an exceptional 8-4 record. They also played very well in exhibition games and tournaments from May-August, including winning the Early Bird Tournament hosted by Baseball NS in May.
Led by overagers Ben MacDougall, Chase Gaudette and the likes of Jack MacKenzie and Duncan Picketts, the Youth Selects have steady pitching and good bats and look to put them on display in Regina.
Games start tomorrow (Wednesday, 7 August), with the Youth Selects taking on New Brunswick at 2 pm CST (5 pm ADT). The schedule and live results can be found at https://baseball.ca/?fd=champ&pg=schedule&evt=cup.
