With Hurricane Dorian hitting Prince Edward Island this past Saturday, we got the final four Provincial Champions crowned by Saturday morning, prior to the Hurricane hitting PEI. That was the end of the “Provincial Season” for Baseball PEI, as Provincial Champions were named in ten different categories.

On Saturday morning at Kiwanis Field, Charlottetown, the Mid-Isle Cougars defeated the Eastern Express twice to win the 2019 Baseball PEI Provincial 11U “AAA” Championship. In the five-team draw, Mid-Isle came into Saturday morning with a 3-1 record in comparison to Eastern’s 4-0 record, meaning Mid-Isle had to win twice to win the Championship. That is what Mid-Isle did – winning both games 7-3. As such, Mid-Isle will represent Baseball PEI at the 2019 Baseball Atlantic 11U “AAA” Championship in Fredericton, NB from 13-15 September 2019.

On Friday evening in Summerside, the Stratford Athletics defeated the Charlottetown/Sherwood Royals in the semifinals and the Cardigan Clippers in the final to win the 2019 Baseball PEI Provincial 15U “AA” Championship. As Stratford also won the 15U “AA” Eliminations in July, they will represent Baseball PEI at the 2019 Baseball Atlantic 15U “AA” Championships in Conception Bay North, NL from 13-15 September 2019.

Also on Friday evening in Summerside, the Western Mariners won the 2019 Baseball PEI Provincial 13U “AA” Championships after defeating the Summerside Chevys in the Championship game and the Charlottetown/Sherwood Royals in the semifinals. The turnaround for Western will be quick - they will represent Baseball PEI at the 2019 Baseball Atlantic 13U “AA” Championships in Springhill, NS from 13-15 September 2019.

At Gordie Arsenault Field in Summerside on Saturday morning, the Western Mariners also won the 2019 Baseball PEI Provincial 11U “AA” Championships after beating Cornwall #2 Cougars in the semifinals and the Stratford Athletics in the Championship game. This means that Western will be PEI #2 at the 2019 Baseball Atlantic 11U “AA” Championships in Sherwood/Parkdale, PE from 13-15 September 2019 (the host Sherwood/Parkdale Knights will be PEI #1).

Baseball PEI would like to thank all coaches, players, teams, umpires, parents and fans for making all of the 2019 Baseball PEI Provincial Championships successful. Best of luck to all Island teams representing Baseball PEI at their respective Baseball Atlantic Championships this upcoming weekend, and we look forward to seeing all players return in 2020!
