Arm Smart (Pitch Count) Will Feature a Few Changes in 2020

The Arm Smart (Pitch Count) rules for 2020 is changing on Prince Edward Island, in Atlantic Canada, and at the National level.

In November 2019, the Board of Directors of Baseball Canada voted to change some parts of the Baseball Canada pitch count rules (the 2020 Baseball Canada rules can be found at

Based on the change to Baseball Canada’s pitch count rules, Baseball Atlantic voted last week to adopt Baseball Canada’s pitch count rules, except for one change – the new maximum number of pitches that can be thrown over four days in Baseball Canada’s rules can be thrown over three days in Baseball Atlantic play.

This week, the Board of Directors of Baseball PEI voted to adopt Baseball Atlantic’s pitch counts for 2020 and beyond. Those new pitch count rules can be found at These new pitch count rules will be in place for all Baseball PEI exhibition, tournament, regular season and Provincial tournament (Eliminations and Championship) games.
