The Eastern 11U “AAA” Express had a brilliant season in 2020, culminating with a Provincial Championship. No player had more to do with Eastern’s success than the 11-year-old from the Monaghan Road, Ryan Doyle. Doyle had a terrific year defensively, with an ability to play great defence in the infield. However, his abilities on the bump and at the plate are what contributed the most to his team’s success. At the plate, Ryan Doyle hit an amazing .800 to lead his team – and likely all of the 11U “AAA” league – in batting average. On the mound, Doyle was arguably better. During the 11U “AAA” regular season, Doyle pitched in seven games and earned a record of 5-0. At times he was nearly untouchable, coming over-the-top with a terrific fastball and occasionally mixing in a change of pace. During the Provincial Championships, Doyle went 2-0, pitched eleven innings in two games and did not allow a single run while throwing a no-hitter during the semifinals and sharing a shutout in the Championship game. Known for his baseball I.Q., his hard work and tenacious spirit, the sky is the limit for Ryan Doyle and he is the 2020 Baseball PEI Minor Junior (13U) Male Athlete of the Year, presented by ADL and Sport PEI!
