2016 Bedeque Area Minor Baseball Registration

Bedeque Area Minor Baseball Association now has registration dates set for the 2016 Blue Jackets Baseball Season!!

- April 23rd, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Bedeque Area Rec Center
- April 30th, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Bedeque Area Rec Center and the Kinkora Kanata Club
- May 7th, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Kinkora Kanata Club

Registration fees for 2016:
Rally Cap : $85 - Each Additional Child: $50
Mosquito (11U): $135 - Each Additional Child: $85
Peewee (13U): $150 - Each Additional Child: $85
Bantam (15U): $150 - Each Additional Child: $85
Midget(18U): $150
Junior (21U): $160
(Note: No Additional Child Discount for Midget or Junior)

2016 Mid-Isle "AAA" Mustangs Head Coaches named

The Mid-Isle "AAA" Mustangs organizing committee is excited to announce the successful Head Coach applicants for the 2016 Mosquito, Peewee and Bantam Baseball season.

Try-out dates and locations will be announced in the coming weeks. Try-outs are open to players registered within Kensington Minor Baseball, Cornwall Minor Baseball and Bedeque Area Minor Baseball...Stay Tuned!

Mid-Isle AAA Coaching Applications

The organizing committee for the Mid-Isle AAA Mustangs Baseball teams are now accepting applications for the Head Coach positions at each the Mosquito (11U), Peewee (13U) and Bantam (15U) levels for the 2016 baseball season. 

The Mustangs are comprised of players from the Kensington, Bedeque Area and Cornwall Minor Baseball Associations, with tryouts beginning in early May.
The successful applicants will be required to obtain Certification through the National Coaching Certification Program that meets the minimum requirements for the applicable AAA age level. Certification must be completed prior to the team taking part in any Provincial Elimination and/or Provincial Championship tournaments.

Tentative Schedule for 2020 Baseball NCCP Clinics Released

Baseball PEI has announced the tentative schedule of NCCP baseball clinics being offered on PEI in 2020 (this schedule is subject to change; if any changes to dates/locations have to be made, that will be communicated on and on Baseball PEI social media platforms).

There will be ten offered in total – two Initiation clinics, six Regional-level clinics and two Provincial-level clinics. Below is the schedule of the 2020 NCCP baseball clinics:

  • Saturday, 9 May: NCCP Pitching and Catching Clinic - Sport PEI, Charlottetown (9 am - 12 pm)
  • Saturday, 9 May: NCCP Strategies Clinic - Sport PEI, Charlottetown (12 pm - 3 pm)
  • Thursday, 11 June: NCCP Initiation Clinic - Sport PEI, Charlottetown (6 pm - 9 pm)
  • Saturday, 13 June: NCCP Teaching and Learning Clinic - Sport PEI, Charlottetown (9 am - 11:30 am)
  • Saturday, 13 June: NCCP Absolutes Clinic - Sport PEI, Charlottetown (11:30 am - 2 pm)
  • Saturday, 13 June: NCCP Planning Clinic - Sport PEI, Charlottetown (2 pm - 4:30 pm)
  • Thursday, 16 July: NCCP Initiation Clinic - Summerside Intermediate School, Summerside (6 pm - 9 pm)
  • Saturday, 18 July: NCCP Teaching and Learning Clinic - Summerside Intermediate School, Summerside (9 am - 11:30 am)
  • Saturday, 18 July: NCCP Absolutes Clinic - Summerside Intermediate School, Summerside (11:30 am - 2 pm)
  • Saturday, 18 July: NCCP Planning Clinic - Summerside Intermediate School, Summerside (2 pm - 4:30 pm)

For the first time in 2020, for any coaches requiring an evaluation of the online Regional/Provincial Coach Portfolio, the Portfolio must be completed and submitted by Friday, 10 July (any Portfolios submitted after 10 July will not be evaluated until after September).

As well, any coaches requiring an in-person practice and/or game evaluation must contact Desi Doyle at prior to Friday, 10 July. All practice and game evaluations must be completed by 31 July (if a coach contacts Desi Doyle after 10 July, they will not have their practice and/or game evaluation completed during the summer of 2020).

Finally, just a friendly reminder that all coaches on the bench or the field at Provincial Tournaments (Eliminations and Championships) must have their proper NCCP certification. There are no exceptions.

Sport PEI released some of their 2019 Sport PEI Annual Award winners and nominees today, and Baseball PEI is well represented!

Rob McCormack – who has already won the 2019 Baseball PEI Coach of the Year and Baseball Canada’s 2019 Lionel Ruhr Elite Coach of the Year Awards – has been named Sport PEI’s 2019 PEI Mutual Insurance Coach of the Year. This is on the back of a fantastic 2019 for McCormack, who led the Provincial 15U team to Bronze at the 2019 Baseball Canada Ray Carter Cup and the Summerside 15U “AAA” Chevys to the Tanner Craswell Memorial Trophy as Provincial 15U “AAA” Champions.

Kevin McKenna – who as already won the 2019 Baseball PEI Volunteer Administrator of the Year and the 2019 Baseball Canada/Major League Baseball Volunteer of the Year – has been named Sport PEI’s 2019 ADL Administrator of the Year. This award comes due to McKenna’s tireless work, over twenty-odd years, with the Bedeque and Area Minor Baseball Association and the PEI Baseball Umpires Association.

Finally, Morell’s Cole MacLaren has been named as a finalist for Sport PEI’s 2019 Synergy Fitness and Nutrition Intercollegiate Male Athlete of the Year (along with Kameron Kielly – hockey – and Ligrit Sadiku – wrestling). MacLaren had a fantastic 2019 with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers (NCAA; Division I), starting every game behind the plate as a catcher and displaying terrific defence, along with hitting .247 and recording an on-base percentage of .403. MacLaren’s excellent year helped earn him a professional contract with the Detroit Tigers organization.

The 2019 Sport PEI Annual Awards will be held on Wednesday, 19 February 2020 at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall (Holland College campus, Charlottetown), beginning at 6:15 pm. The cost of a ticket is $25. To purchase a ticket, call Sport PEI at 902-368-4110.

Provincial 15U Announce Times for First Three Tryouts

The 2019 Provincial 15U team – representing Baseball PEI at the Baseball Canada Ray Carter Cup (National 15U Championships) – have announced the first phase of their tryouts.

Tryout #1 will be at the turf field beside Credit Union Place in Summerside on Saturday, 20 April from 4 pm – 6 pm. Tryouts #2 and #3 are planned for Saturday, 4 May and Sunday, 5 May from 4 pm – 6 pm, locations TBD.

The cost for the three tryouts is $50, and are to be payable at the turf field in Summerside prior to the first tryout on Saturday, 20 April.

The coaching staff for the Provincial 15U squad is head coach Rob McCormack, with assistant coaches Blair Creelman, Joe McInnis and Matt Barlow.
